This is a very famous indigenous art form that prevailed in Central Travancore area of Kerala. This ritualistic artform is associated mainly with Devi temples. Pallikkal Maha Devi temple was also a centre stage of Padayani from time immemorial. It is noted that up to the early years of the last century, 41days Padayani performance was held in the temple without fail. Many Padayani teachers (gurus) lived in connection with the temple. Due to the lack of competent and well versed Padayani artists, it is difficult to arrange a performance nowadays. In spite of this, for the last few years,  the  temple authorities have been organizing Padayani performance.
